There are two ways of getting new lines in the output: they can come
from the stylesheet, or from the source document.

Often the problem is to AVOID copying new lines from the source
document.

Outputting new lines from the stylesheet is easy:
<xsl:text>&#xa;</xsl:text>

Beyond that, you need to describe your transformation in more detail.
