[XSL-LIST Mailing List Archive Home] [By Thread] [By Date] [Recent Entries] [Reply To This Message] size of generated PDF files?
We are currently generating PDF files from XML using a third party
utility, but we have a problem in that each additional font seems to
require about 40 Kb, even if we use only a few characters.
The PDF generator supports type 1 fonts, I don't know if true-type would be more compact. Many of the fonts are variations in size or style. Two financial documents (eg plenty of text, not much graphics beyond the logo) but with different amounts of data per page come in at 550Kb and 938Kb. Formatting is currently applied via SVG but I imagine that most multi-page PDF generators out there will use XSL-FO. Any suggestions as to what options we have? Other info I need to provide? Francis.
