For this situation, it would be really nice to be able to do: <xsl:for-each select="'a' to 'z'"> ... </xsl:for-each> I suppose the other possibility would be tokenize function so you could do: <xsl:for-each select="tokenize('abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz', '')"> ... </xsl:for-each> to achieve the same thing (although a little more laboriously).
