This is actually an exception from the Xerces parser, not from Xalan itself. It seems strange that Xerces would be complaining about that encoding, as it has supported it for quite a while. You should check your classpath to make sure you don't have an old version of the Xerces parser lurking about. I believe there is a utility packaged with Xalan that checks your environment for such things. Also, just for fun, try using upper-case letters in the encoding, i.e.: encoding ="ISO-8859-1" You shouldn't have to do it, but it's worth a try. > No output file was created.
