xslt passing attributes
> self::*[@border]
selects the current node if the current node is an element node with a
border attribute.
This is shorthand for
self::*[attribute::border]

> *[@border]
selects all child elements of the current node that have border
attributes
This is shorthand for
child::*[attribute::border]

> node()[@border]
this selects all child nodes of the current node that have border
attributes.
This is shorthand for
child::node()[attribute::border]
since any node that is not an element can not have a border attribute,
in this case, this is equivalent to the previous example, using *.

XPath does not have a namespace, it is the expression language of XSLT.
See the XPath and XSLT specs.
