xsl template change context
| I have a XSLT page to transform a.xml as well as an XML
| file referenced by document('b.xml')
|
| in the XSLT program, i wrote:
|
| <xsl:template match="/"> <!-- the root of a.xml -->
|
|   <xsl:for-each select="document('b.xml')/root/subroot"/>
| <!-- here I want to reference to both
| the nodes under EACH "subroot" of b.xml
| and the nodes that are under the "/"node of a.xml>
|   </xsl:for-each>
|
| </xsl:template>
|
| how can i change context inside <xsl:for-each>? (better without the help
| of variable/param)

I think the most straightforward way is actually to use
a variable to capture the "a.xml" primary source document.
In fact, while you're at it, why not capture both "a.xml"
and "b.xml" in variables, so you can do:

 <xsl:template match="/"> <!-- the root of a.xml -->

   <!-- Put a.xml (primray) and b.xml (secondary) sources in a variable -->
   <xsl:variable name="a" select="/" />
   <xsl:variable name="b" select="document('b.xml')" />

   <xsl:for-each select="$b/root/subroot"/>

      <!-- Here you can select="a$/foo/bar" to refer to nodes from a.xml -->

   </xsl:for-each>
 </xsl:template>

For even better overall stylesheet clarity/readability, you
could promote the two variables above to be top-level stylesheet
variables and in doing so make it very clear what source documents
the current stylesheet operates on. Of course this is only possible
if the "b.xml' you're giving in your sample is a fixed name, and
not -- in your actual stylesheet -- derived by some function of
the input from a.xml. But you get the idea...
