XSLT has a "string-length" function that gives you the length of a string. I don't know what the length of an element might be. There's only one "brand" of XSLT, and it's the one specified by the Working Group that specifies these things. There is a similar language produced by Microsoft before XSLT was finalized; it is similar in many respects, but there is no point in trying to write transformations that will work in both languages. I know that some brands of XSLT have a length method, but is there a way that would work for all brands? Thanks XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
