You need @*[name()=$attributeName] (or @*[local-name()=$attributeName] if
you don't want to worry about namespaces).

Let me give it another try here:
I want to pass in the name of the attribute into a template
($attributeName). The template will then print out the value stored for the
attribute (@$attributeName).
