IE and xsl:message?

When using IE5 and msxml3.dll, simple XSLT stylesheets seem to work.
According to http://www.vbxml.com/xsl/elmxsl_message.asp, xsl:message is
supported, but I don't see IE doing anything with the xsl:message contents.
What should I be seeing?
