For example AxKit's fragment plugin allows you to request http://server/mydocument.xml?//chapter[@no='c1'] - the querystring is just an XPath query. Of course you have to write your stylesheet to cope with this form (i.e. don't expect a top-level <book> element), but with XSL that's fairly simple. I'm also aware that Zope can do fragment requests, and probably some Java based solutions (products anyone?). -- <Matt/> Fastnet Software Ltd.
