The pattern for using modes is: <xsl:template match="P"> <xsl:apply-templates select="Y" mode="Z"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Q" mode="Z"> ... </xsl:template> where P and Q are patterns, Y is a nodeset expression, and Z is a name.
