If any of those scripting languages can return nodes, then fine, but I
need to be able to conditionally create nodes.  AFAIK, those scripting
languages can only help me get strings, and it doesn't seem tenable to
have to create markup-looking strings in the scripting language and
then ask the processor to re-parse those in context.
