XT has an experimental implementation of the identity transform. You can
do the identity transform using:

<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-xsl">

<xsl:template match="*|comment()|pi(*)">
  <xsl:copy>
    <xsl:process-children/>
  </xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>
