thx, but "unfortunately" it is the user (client) that decides on which he want to sort the table.
So is it possible to change

<xsl:sort select="root/person/supelogin/*[name()=$$sortering]"/>

in something more variable ?
as other clients may want to sort on "root/address"

Thanks in advance,
Fred.

but now i would like to sort the xmlstring on "root.person.supelogin.login"

well guessing whatyou mean by "." You coukd do

<xsl:sort select="root/person/supelogin/login"/>

If you want to pass the name of the sort element as a param, and only
want to use the eleemnts in supelogin you can do

<xsl:sort select="root/person/supelogin/*[name()=$$sortering]"/>

If you want to supply the full path as a param you are in the territory
of using saxon:evaluate()
