Simon,

Naturally - this is another cool thing you can do with CAM templates - we are using annotations extensively for different semantic needs - and "Yes" - for several years people have been telling me - "surely CAM is a better way of doing XBRL - no XLink needed" - to which the answer is "Correct - no doubt".

However - reality check - without a serious sponsor - tough to get traction.

I've also realized another inhibitor here - there are certain communities using CAM now - that are keeping well below the radar - it is their huge competitive advantage - and they don't want their competition to know that.  Sigh - the world is a complex place!

But at least we are now getting around 1,000 downloads a week - so slowly the word is getting out there...

Did I mention - I for one have always believed XLink is seriously flawed - so "Hurrah" long overdue - another W3C "Edsel".
