XSLT coding questions are best asked on the xsl-list at mulberrytech.com
It looks like you want the concatenated text in an attribute, ist wahr?
In XSLT 2.0:
<element string="{item/title}"/>
In XSLT 1.0 it's 10 lines of code instead of 1:
<element>
<xsl:attribute name="string">
<xsl:for-each select="item/title">
<xsl:value-of select="."/>
<xsl:if test="position() != last">
<xsl:text> </xsl:text>
</xsl:if>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:attribute>
</element>
