RE: What is coupling? [Was: 3 XML Design Principles]

what is coupling
Which in a world of standards, is even more surprising advice,
but nonetheless, sage.

The moeboid of weird brings us back to 'coupling' (verb) as

the intensional act of creating a dependency where the degree is set
according to the complexity of creating and maintaining the coupling (noun)
in context (performance/cost determined by system type goal). If plotted
as a polarity, for example:

loose ........... tight

Computer network component systems cluster to the left.
Marital systems cluster to the right.
Political systems and many market systems orbit strangely.

Coupling is a measurable characteristic that can be used
to classify the behavior of generalized networks and therefore,
ecologies. Simple systems that evolve complex behaviors typically
exhibit some form of coupling. In this model, the notion of
intensionality becomes weird.

You've
got voices speaking in your head about all those things, and. the most
important thing you must do is get rid of those voices, really and
truly clean them out and only pay attention to whether you are
actually feeling better. ... even if the answer surprises you."
