In my application I used JXTA for the underlying transport - JXTA provides a UUID identifiers for clients, so I used that for identification purposes. My approach to associating that with the content was to leave it to the receiving peer - the receiving peer annotates the received topic map fragment, using the topic map scope mechanism to scope every assertion with a topic that represents the source peer. In presentations on the "layer-cake" architecture of the semweb, I've seen reference to DigSig + XML Encryption. As has already been pointed out there are problems in getting PKI out there - though if you look at groupware tools like Lotus Notes and Groove, a form of PKI underlies the identity mechanisms of both. For semweb technologies to really become ubiquitous though this needs to get driven down into the standard libraries (.NET/JRE/Whatever). Cheers, Kal -- Kal Ahmed <kal@t...> techquila
