One can only wonder what he wrote when he was telling the company what he really thought. :)

Putting aside the specifics of his letter, it seems to me that there is a major issue for Microsoft to cope with. The Web has begun the process of transition from the UWW (USA-Wide Web) through EWW (English-Language Wide Web) to a genuinely World Wide Web.

The only realistic way to begin that process in many (non-Western) countries is to use open source software. Labour is relatively cheap. Hardware is relatively cheap. There are lots of people, so buying multiple legal software licenses for MS and other shrink wrap technology is totally unrealistic. Two choices in those countries - open source or pirated MS etc software.
