Sort of too bad. Only Money Matters. It seems to play to the "all future software will be W3C-compliant software" ploy. I have reasons to think that isn't true but that's ok. We will reinvent every feature of SGML in XML except for datatag and call it Xtremely Xtensible. Markup marches on.... a path littered with dead hardware, dead operating systems, and dead applications floating face up among the reeds of perrenial content. We follow Gollum with a sharp eye and restrained imagination to that fiery pit where the ring will at last, release its hold on our will. :-) len From: B. There are no "SGML vendors", they have all styled themselves "XML vendors". Many of them still support SGML, they just don't advertise SGML support. XML won't kill SGML unless it mutates in such a way that tool vendors can't support both XML and SGML from the same code base. If that happens they will, probably reluctantly, drop support for their oldest customers. Unless that happens, a lot of software will be silently SGML capable.
