I paid for a copy of Netscape Navigator when Windows 95 came out with its
horrible early version of IE bundled, explicitly so that Netscape could
continue to compete.  Unfortunately, my $90, or whatever it was, was not
sufficient to stem the tide...  [There's a Beyond the Fringe World War II
skit containing remarks from an English dowager aristocrat, "The weekend war
broke out, ..., I got on the phone to Berlin to try to speak to Herr Hitler,
who'd been so kind to us on our last visit to Germany.  Unfortunately, the
line was engaged, and there was nothing I could do to avert the carnage of
the next six years."]
