My experience is that most programmers don't get it, some get it
and thinks it's wholly impractical (either because it's brain dead
or because it's too hard, or because it's AI hogwash).

About two years ago I would have said the same about (non-mobile)
software agents; until you line up the plumbing stack needed for
such agents and webservices and find they're largely identical.
