If this is a REST principle, then REST has gotten this one wrong and the W3C (with their emphasis on URIs for unique names) have got this one right. That simple <baseType>/<subType> pattern is going to become an awfully crowded namespace if web services folks yield on this one. And boy are the IANA folks going to be busy registering media types. What's wrong with URIs?
