BTW, thanks for the long explanation of this at http://xmlhack.com/read.php?item=1158&v=1&t=comment%3A130 

So, there is one and only one XTM syntax.  That is a very important clarification
for me.  Is there consensus on who "owns" the syntax so that it can evolve?
