[XML-DEV Mailing List Archive Home] [By Thread] [By Date] [Recent Entries] [Reply To This Message] XML in systems development
Some of you might be interested in an early draft document on the use of XML in enterprise information systems: http://www.dstc.edu.au/Jackson/sys/ This is a rather high level (read "abstract") overview of a large topic and is still very rough and ready (well, rough anyway). Some sections of it are little more than place holders. The section on exchange is especially undeveloped, i think in part due to the fact that this area of exchange and XML is still very much in flux. The document gives few if any answers but asks a lot of questions. There are many gaps in the content reflecting gaps in my understanding. No doubt some of what i've written also reveals gaps in my understanding. I would be glad to have any feedback, ideas or contributions. All contributions will of course be acknowledged. I would also be happy to have references to related work. This is one of a number of documents on the use of XML i'm working on. The others are more concrete and cover less ground in more detail. They also might elaborate on some aspects of this document. I would like to say that while i've been lurking all this time, i've been very inspired, and more than a little awed, by many of the discussions on xml-dev. There are many people on this list who have at times made me think more than is comfortable. Some of these people are cited in this document, but others equally important have not been because their influence is more subtle and generalized rather than specific. There's also the fact that i just haven't had time to re-read the xml-dev archives to find some of the useful posts of these people. David Jackson DSTC, Brisbane, Australia Disclaimer: Of course, nothing i say should be taken to represent DSTC, heaven forbid.
