We did this with MID as well starting from a strawman based on the 
window properties, through objects, and then the sequenced
infoContainers. 
Some ideas keep coming around until they make sense in terms of 
platform support and need within communities.  At the time, IETMs 
were driving the design and we needed a way to define platform 
independent view packages over the IETMDB.  The good news is the 
earlier works prove it can be done and where folks bother to 
do a bit of research and avoid NIH ills, they can shortcut 
some hard earned work.

Off topic but while I am here, is there support for SAX 
in MSXML?
