I thought the 'Simple' in 'Simple API for XML' was supposed to imply that the API was simple relatively inexperienced programmers to _use_. It doesn't necessarily follow that it must be utterly trivial to implement. Let's face it, anyone with enough facility in Java to be able to build a conformant XML parser (or even a partially conformant minimalist parser) shouldn't have a particularly tough time implementing a simple two method factory interface.
