Strikes me that XML-DEV has enough traffic to need some intelligent way to filter the wheat from the chaff ... that way folk like this reporter (and frankly, me :-) could get more of the benefit with less of the time. Some models for this come quickly to mind: - The Linux kernel developer's list gets lots of traffic; the digests for 1-Sept were 400 KB. There's a weekly web publication "kernel traffic", where one person does a reasonable job of summarizing and highlighting the main threads. Easier to read that than the list! - At slashdot.org there's a discussion system which has a group moderation system which often seems to work rather well in highlighting important comments. Such a system could be used on a "view" of the list archives. So I'm wondering whether doing something along these lines for xml-dev might not be useful to many folk. (Note: this really is a "random idea" ... the white coats may be necessary in part because of the type of content, but volume is surely also an issue!) - Dave xml-dev: A list for W3C XML Developers.
