I have a need to publish the same reports in XHTML and XSL-FO. It would be a real time saver if I could use the same .report file to do this.

Unless I am missing something this is not possible because you have to choose between XHTML+CSS or XSL-FO when you first create the report file.

I have examined the differences between two empty files and, apart from a set of document properties in the XSL-FO file the main differences are in the presentaion element lines (Line 2 and the last line). I have tried copying these lines from an empty XHTML+CSS file to an empty XSL-FO file but the modified file fails to load with a "files has benn tampered and cannot be opened" error. It all comes down to the "signed" attribute in the presentation element which appears to be some sort of a checksum and changes as the file changes.

Is there any way I can achieve single source opublishing or do I have to do the work twice?

Ian

Hi Ian,

Publisher does not support multiple outputs therefore you will need to create separate reports, but you can copy&paste between reports.

Hope this helps
Ivan

Thanks Ivan,
It is certainly better than nothing. The answers you have given to my other questions concerning column/row spanning & XSL elements indicate that the visual designer is really only a starting point and I will have to do quite a lot of hand-coding to get the desired result anyway which will always entail double work.

Maybe one day I will try writing an XSL stylesheet to convert from XSL:FO to XHTML

Thanks,
Ian
