Subject:Using Stylus to generate electronic reports in Progress legacy environment Author:Tom Samek Date:25 Jun 2008 04:08 PM
I am evaluating the product to assist in integration in a Progress database legacy environment. I have a high level view and would appreciate any help. I searched this forum and did not see anything related to my questions.
One of the requirements is to generate electronic forms (e.g. Invoices) for e-mailing, printing, archiving or faxing.
1) Is Stylus Studio a good tool to address this requirement?
2) The output must contain graphics and bar codes--can this be done within the tool?
3) Does Stylus Studio enable us to quickly turn the legacy invoice print routine into a XML source?
4) Does the tool include an engine for rendering the invoices on our print server?
Thank you in advance for any consideration to these questions.

Hi Tom,
Stylus Studio lets you write XSLT or XQuery that process XML data (that could be also coming from an OpenEdge dump, thanks to DataDirect XML Converters); but in order to know how/if these stylesheets can be integrated into your Progress environment, you should ask these questions to the Progress technical support.
