Please excuse a noob if I accidentally double posted this.

When running on an instance of XP SP2 with multiple monitors, the application terminates with a windows error dialog.

An example is to select the File->Open menu item.

The dialog is:

Stylus Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Then followed by the usual more text and the Send Error Report/Don't Send buttons.

I have sent off several of these back to you, primarily under the previous build of version 8. The more recent release does no better.

I have tried a new download of the file. I have installed the same version on a laptop machine, as permitted under the license agreement. The laptop installation worked fine. Both are running similar versions of XP, with all patches applied.

2006 is still installed on the machine, but it was still installed when I did the install to the laptop without any negative effect (subsequently removed 2006 Enterprise when 2007 was shown to work).

I'm assuming that it is some very exciting DLL issue.

The logfile Struzzo.log has an entry with:
Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION
Fault address: 76D68EB1 01:00007EB1 C:\WINDOWS\system32\iphlpapi.dll

The call stack looks like (edited for length)

Running Kaspersky Antivirus, ZoneAlarm with grants for Struzzo.

Please advise on my next steps to resolve this.

Paul,

It seems like that Stylus Studio crashes when trying to determine the first available TCP port for the Java Debugger listener.

Please go to Tools -> Options -> General -> Java Virtual Machine and replace the "Parameters" value with a space then re-start Stylus Studio.

Unfortunately, I cannot access the menu item. It crashes with the exact same symptoms. Is there a config file that I can modify to resolve this? I had a look and there were no obvious config files that I could make this fix using a text editor.

The registry is missing a number of entries.

I've taken a screen shot of the two machines and their registries and attached it.

The laptop works and the desktop doesn't. Is it sufficient to replicate the settings from the laptop to the desktop?

All registry entries are optionals and have fall-backs
