I'm still getting an error on Stylus Studio startup, with the following
message:

Encountered an I/O error in URL
"file:///c:/cygwin/home/u166705/work/soapcall": Access to
c:\cygwin\home\u166705\work\soapcall was denied.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

All I know about this is is that it's trying to open that directory as a
file, which fails.

I don't know how to figure out what is causing this. I currently have
one xslt with a scenario, and the scenario looks fine.

Doesn't seem to be a good place for this post; anyway, you already reported this issue, and we know the problem is related to how errors are reported when XSLT tries to open a scenario document; we are fixing the issue to make the error reporting more helpful.

Should I have sent this directly to the field report address?

Will this reporting enhancement be in the release coming out next week?

It also seems likely to me that it was not user error that produced the
situation that presents this message. I didn't think it was the first
time it happened, and I'm more convinced of that now. This reporting
change will help me narrow down what is corrupted, but I have a feeling
it won't have an impact on the root cause.

Not necessarily; but a different (new?) SSDN thread would have been easier to track.

No; the fix will appear in Release 3, scheduled to be available in June 06.

We understand that; but so far we have been unable to reproduce the behavior. If you, or anyone else, is able to see a patter in how this happens, we will of course address the underlying issue.
