I'm getting the following error when I try to validate against the attached schema or validate the schema itself:


Validating http://www.loc.gov/standards/marcxml/schema/MARC21slim.xsd...
http://www.loc.gov/standards/marcxml/schema/MARC21slim.xsd:20,77: ID 'record.e' is not unique

The XML document http://www.loc.gov/standards/marcxml/schema/MARC21slim.xsd is NOT valid (1 errors)


There is only one element which users the ID record.e and even if I change it to some random string, validation still does not work.

I'm using framework version 4.0 build 100i and all my module dlls are the same. Also attached is a sample instance document.

Hi Corey,
it looks like the schema validation module of Xerces has a bug when dealing
with IDs.
First of all, here is the workaround: move the declaration of the "record"
element *before* the declaration of "collection", and your schema will be
considered valid.
For the record, the error is caused by the fact that "collection", being of
type "collectionType", includes a reference to "record", that has not yet
been found; so its declaration is retrieved and used to check if the
"collection" declaration is valid, then it's discarded.
BUT, the map holding the IDs is not cleared; so, when the declaration for
"record" is found, it looks like the "record.e" ID has already been used by
some other definition.

We will refer this bug to the Xerces-C team.

The reported problem is fixed in BL103h, now available from:
