It was a problem with the preview. When I previewed text, I saw the element with a space. It was when I previewed in browser that it rendered as an empty element. Duh.

you should download the latest build 287 update (BL287n), as that's the version for which you have a license (I guess). That update is available from http://www.stylusstudio.com/update/pro-60.html
If you are being prompted for an activation key, it means you have installed the latest Stylus Studio 2006 version; you can try it for free, but you will have to buy the upgrade from your current version if you are not protected by AUP.
Build 287 and Stylus Studio 2006 will co-exist on the same machine, assuming you don't try installing both in the same folder.

Thanks Minollo - that's information I could have used. I installed the latest update in the same directory, and now have no working copy of the software. How do I back rev and re-activate?
