Vic LeeSubject: Enter font name directly in XML publisher
Author: Vic Lee

Hi There!
We are using XML publisher to design various PDF reports. Currently we can enter the font name directly. SS only allow us to select a fixed list of fonts (which I believe it's coming from the machine where SS is running).

Our senario is like this. We use FOP to generate PDF content from .fo content on the server, and we need to support unicode characters. To achieve this, we need to use the FOP TTFReader to read a TrueType font file and configure it in the FOP user config file, with a font-family name from the font file. The font file and font-family name can be arbitrary, and it's working fine when I use the font-family name directly in the .fo output.

So right now the only problem is that SS2009 won't let me enter my own font-family name.

I do have a workaround at this moment. For example I am using a font name Arial Unicode MS, if I put 'Arial Unicode MS' in the Font's XPath, it works. But I think it's much better to let me put in Arial Unicode MS directly in the font since it's really not an XPath and it will be much easier for our users.

Thank you for your suggestion; we will consider adding this feature in the next version of Stylus Studio.

Thanks,
Alberto
