Keijo HottiSubject: Old xsl into reports
Author: Keijo Hotti

Hello,
I have about 150 old xsl files for different reporting needs.
They have all been made with older StylusStudio versions.
However now I can't use the wysiwyg when opening the old xsl's.
Is there any possibilities to do so ?

I'm using (trying to use) StylusStudio Enterprise suite 2007.
Best Regards,
Keijo

Hi, Keijo.
The WYSIWYG Editor was removed in Stylus Studio 2007 XML Enterprise Suite Release 2 in favor of XML Publisher. See this thread for a discussion:

http://www.stylusstudio.com/SSDN/default.asp?action=9&read=6432&fid=48

In addition, you might want to check out video demonstrations of XML Publisher:

http://www.stylusstudio.com/videos/publisher1/publisher1.html

and of the XML Publisher's relationship feature, which allows you to group data from one or more data sources.

Hope this helps!
Alberto

Hello,

And thanks for your answer, but it wasn't what I meant.
I know the wysiwyg is removed and I have made new reports succesfully with the xml publisher. The problem is that I f I need to edit my old existing xsl's I can't open them in the publisher so that i can make necessary changes easily.

Best Regards,
Keijo

Hi Keijo,
unfortunately is not possible to generate an XML Publisher document starting from a WYSIWYG stylesheet. What you can do is either maintain the WYSIWYG stylesheet by using the normal XSLT editor, using backmapping from the preview window to locate the code responsible for each output component, or design the output from scratch by using XML Publisher. The former option is probably the best one, but it requires more knowledge of the XSLT instruction set. The last alternative is to keep using Stylus Studio 2006 just for editing the old WYSIWYG files, while using XML Publisher to design the new ones.

Hope this helps,
Alberto
