Zhen XuSubject: Custom converter to map flat file to hierarchical XML
Author: Zhen Xu

Hi, I am new to Stylus Studio. I have a flat text file with the following layout:

RecordTypeA|Data...
RecordTypeB|Data...
RecordTypeB|Data...
RecordTypeA|Data...
RecordTypeB|Data...
RecordTypeC|Data...

It is more like a flat EDI file with loops. The final XML I like to have is:

<RecordTypeC>
<RecordTypeA>
<RecordTypeB/>
<RecordTypeB/>
</RecordTypeA>
<RecordTypeA>
<RecordTypeB/>
</RecordTypeA>
</RecordTypeC>

Would this be possible with the built in custom converter? All I can get to is a simple XML with no hierarchical structure and all records fall under the root element. I know this can be easily done with Altova Mapforce Flex Text.
