Is it possible with Stylus to open an SGML DTD and/or an SGML document?
I have not been sucessful as I got errors when I tried.

SGML is sufficiently different from XML that it would not work.
SGML DTD's have a large number of additional options and features
that XML DTD's do not have.

In other words, "no".

You need an SGML-specific tool.
