Elias HuterSubject: XSD Description in Mapper View
Author: Elias Huter

Hi,

is it possible to implement the field-description in the XSD Scheme (<xs:documentation>) into the Mapper View?

This would make the mapping much easier because, for example in EDIFACT, you can't tell what the field contains according to it's name.

If it's not possible to make a seperate row for the descriptions, maybe a tooltip (see documentation with mouse-over) would be possible?

Regards
Elias

Starting in SS 2007, you can choose to generate your XML from EDI
using long names. Add the "long=yes" attribute to your URL.
Then, instead of seeing UNB01, you'd see UNB01-SyntaxIdentifier.

Thank you for your quick response. Can you tell me which URL you want me to modify? To assure that we are talking of the same thing I attached a screenshot which shows where I would expect the description.

Okay.

That's not one of the XSD's that we generate that is compatible with our adapters.

I was thinking that you were using one that we create. If you
were doing that, you would get it from File|Document Wizards|EDIFACT to XML Schema. In that location, you could choose long names, and when converting from EDI to XML or back, you can choose long names when you open the EDI file.

This isn't quite what you asked, and you're comment has been noted.
Thanks.
