Jonn BogarSubject: 837 to XML error
Author: Jonn Bogar
Date: 12 Jul 2006 01:05 PM
I'm receiving this error when trying to convert an 837 to XML:

java.io.IOException: Segment GS, Element 480: Cannot decode value "004010X096A1" (file:///c:/Documents and Settings/jbogart/Desktop/837sample.txt:2,43) {close}

Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The problem is that Stylus Studio doesn't recognize that
as a release number, which is what element 480 in the GS
segment contains.

Which version of Stylus Studio are you using? The logic
for determining release numbers was recently changed to
address this specific issue.

(If the release in the file were just 004010 it would work
fine even now.)

Sorry for abandoning this subject. Got sucked away to another project.

Anyway I am currently using build 653c.

Add &tbl=no, or change the setting for
"Force error if value not in code list" from the default of "yes" to "no".

If the release were "004010" instead of "004010X098A1", all would be fine.

We're changing the adapter so that in the future this particular element
is only checked based on the first six characters, unless there is an
exact match based on the new extension mechanism we're adding.

Thank you so much.

Will there be any side effects to validation by using this argument or setting?

Thank you very much for all your help.

Well, it means values for elements that aren't in the standard
won't get flagged.

I did check, and the next release of Stylus Studio will only
check the first six digits of element 480 in the GS segment,
so this won't be a problem going forward.
