I have a mapping process from which there are certain elements whose value must be fixed as a single space. I've tried

<xsl:text> </xsl:text>

and

<xsl:text>&#x20;</xsl:text>

but they both render as an empty element.

What can I do for this?

Which version of Stylus Studio are you using, and which XSLT engine?

Have you looked at the values with the debugger?

Usually when people have a problem with XSLT, it's the part of the
document they _don't_ post that actually causes the trouble ;).

Could you attach the XSLT and a sample input XML file that exhibits
the problem?

Look at the <ship_to_code> element. That's the guy I'd like to set as a single space. I'm using the default processor.

Huh. When I run your code, I get it exactly right, with one
space in <ship_to_code>. See attached.

You are _way_ behind on patches; please consider updating to
at least the latest build.
http://www.stylusstudio/update has the free updates.

It was a problem with the preview. When I previewed text, I saw the element with a space. It was when I previewed in browser that it rendered as an empty element. Duh.

If I modify the target document xsd as follows

<xsd:element name="ship_to_code" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" default="zzz"/>

and remove the ship_to_code element from the map, should I expect to see a value of 'zzz' in the ship_to_code element?

Also, I updated, but don't have my activation key. Now I'm hosed. How can I get my activation key from Stylus?

Jay,
you should download the latest build 287 update (BL287n), as that's the version for which you have a license (I guess). That update is available from http://www.stylusstudio.com/update/pro-60.html

If you are being prompted for an activation key, it means you have installed the latest Stylus Studio 2006 version; you can try it for free, but you will have to buy the upgrade from your current version if you are not protected by AUP.

Build 287 and Stylus Studio 2006 will co-exist on the same machine, assuming you don't try installing both in the same folder.

Thanks Minollo - that's information I could have used. I installed the latest update in the same directory, and now have no working copy of the software. How do I back rev and re-activate?
