It's my first time to touch xquery and XML. My needs is

Step1. Input a value to a xquery file as external variable from outside
Step2. Use this xquery to search a existing XML file acocording to inputted value, and return result

Q: Which language can do step1? (Javascript?...)
Q: After Step1, how to trigger xquery file to run query?

Your suggestion is appreciated! Thanks.

Hi,
the answer to both questions are tied to the specific XQuery engine you are going to use. For instance, if you use the StylusXql.exe processor that ships with Stylus 6 Professional Edition you should do:

StylusXql -param ext_var='1' query.xq

This will assign the number 1 to the external variable ext_var and then will execute the query specified in query.xq.
