Hi all, I'm new to xml so forgive me if this question is trivial.

my DB is as follows:

Pagename, linenumber, formattype, format_value

the hierarchy is
Page has lines
line as formatypes
and formatypes have format_values

how should i make this into xml?
1)

<Page1>
<line1>
<bidformat>#.##</bidformat>
<dateformat>dd-MM-yyyy</dateformat>
</line1>
<line2>
<bidformat>#</bidformat>
<dateformat>dd-MM-yyyy</dateformat>
</line2>
</Page1>

or

2)

<Page>
<pagename>mypage</pagename>
<line1>
<bidformat>#.##</bidformat>
<dateformat>dd-MM-yyyy</dateformat>
</line1>
<line2>
<bidformat>#</bidformat>
<dateformat>dd-MM-yyyy</dateformat>
</line2>
</Page>

ie the difference being making the page name an attribute or a hardcoded element?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Seb

Don't make the page number part of the element name.
You won't be able to validate the document against a standard
schema if you mix content with structure.
So the page number and line number should not be part of a name,
but instead either be an element or attribute value.
