I would like to be able to mark the entire folder as read as I don't
have time to open each thread in each folder.

Currently I have "180 new" under "Technical Forum".

The main reason is that as I have just started using Stylus lately
I want to know what are the latest issues, not the old issues.

If I have to search a topic then I can do so with the search function.

You can already do that.
Go to "Options" and then choose "Mark Conferences Read"
