Subject:Go to Definition in Schema editor Author:Doug Domeny Date:12 May 2006 02:41 PM
When editing a schema, need to click on an element or attribute reference and select "Go to Definition" to quickly navigate to where the item is defined.
Example,
Right-click on xlf:tool in:
<xsd:element ref="xlf:tool"/>
and go to
<xsd:element name="tool">
It would also be great to easily navigate to a definition using a drop-down list or XPath. As is, the XPath navigator treats the XSD as XML (which is good), but it would be nice to enter //tool and see <xsd:element name="tool"> and all the places "tool" is referenced.
Thanks, Doug
(P.S. Visual Studio 2005 supports "go to definition")

Assuming you are using Stylus Studio 2006, Go-to Definition is available in the Diagram panel of XML Schema editor (just right click on the item block)
Also, the drop down list at the top of the Diagram tab allows you to directly navigate to the deinition of elements/types.
