ventodimare ventodimareSubject: conditions on tag values expressed by xsd
Author: ventodimare ventodimare

Good morning,

I have a xml based on this tag:
<object>...</object>
<job>...</job>
where object tag can be: person or animal
I want to specify in my xsd that IF THE VALUE INSERTED IN object tag is animal the job tag MUST not be validated (because it has no sense in case of an animal value).

Is possible to express this condition on a xsd?

thanks in advance

XML Schema does not offer this capability.
Look into Schematron, or validate using XSLT or XQuery expressions.

...or capture what you are trying to express in the XML structure:
<object>
<person>
<job>...</job>
</person>
</object>
<object>
<animal>
<number_of_legs>...</number_of_legs>
</animal>
</object>
