Subject:Java Compiler in Windows Vista.... Author:Paul Martin Date:01 Apr 2007 11:26 PM
I have recently upgraded to vista on my machine....
Now when I try and compile any java source from SS2007 nothing compiles.....
I loaded the sample applications and tried to compile the SampleVideo XSL transform..... Here is what I get in the output window:
Compiler Classpath:;"C:\PROGRA~1\STYLUS~1\bin\CustomFileSystem.jar";"C:\PROGRA~1\STYLUS~1\examples\javaExtension";"C:\PROGRA~1\STYLUS~1\examples\Adapters";"C:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2007 XML Enterprise Suite\sources";"C:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2007 XML Enterprise Suite\bin\saxon.jar"
Compiling...
sampleVideo.java
The javac window does not popup and nothing is generated in the output directory.....

I changed the JRE and JAVAC to the same version....
And for some reason Vista marked the Stylus Studio 2007 IDE to run as administrator....It prompted me via UAC everytime I loaded up the IDE....
Strange Side effect when you do that.....java JRE uses the
C:\Users\devuser\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2007 XML Enterprise Suite\sources
But Stylus Studio & and Javac.exe JAVAC uses:
c:\Program Files\Stylus Studio 2007 XML Enterprise Suite\sources
So the compiler puts it in one directory and Java.exe tries to run it from the VirtualStore......
So once I removed the "Run As Administrator" check box off the Shortcut....everything worked again......
