Hello,

is it possible to execute a text-file conversion to xml via the module "Convert to XML" using the command line like executing xslt?

Thanks,
Hans

Hi Hans,
there isn't a command line tool that simply copies files from a custom
file system like "Convert to XML" into the local file system.
But you can write a very simple XSLT that does that, like this one

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">

<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:copy-of select="."/>
</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>

If you invoke the command line XSLT processor specifying a configuration
file created using "Convert to XML" you will have the converted data
as output

stylusxslt adapter:///test.conv test.xsl

Hope this helps,
Alberto

Hi Alberto,

thanks for your reply. But if I execute what you proposed I just get outputted a representation of the .conv file. I really want to specify a (every time changing) input file, the converter to use and then get the xml output.

Or did I understand you incorrectly?

Thanks,
Hans

Hi Hans,
using the example I wrote you will get the XML representation of the
flat file that you used as template to build the "Convert to XML"
operation.

If you want to dynamically specify the source text file, you should use
this syntax

stylusxslt adapter:TAB:newline=crlf;sep=TAB:first=yes:escape=\?file:///c:/csvToConvert.txt test.xsl

To get the syntax for the adapter:xxxx URL, just select the text file
in the open file dialog inside Studio, checking the "Convert to XML using adapter"
check box; then, enter the values for the parameters of the converter,
and copy the URL that is generated.

Hope this helps,
Alberto
