I need to scan a piece of java code and be able to highlight the words based on their meaning. Anyone had luck with xalan regex ?? or analyze-string ??

possibly, XSLT is not the right tool for that job. But in case you want to do this with XSLT, you'll have to use an XSLT 2.0 processor. The current stable processors around are Saxon 9 (Java & .NET, both B, open source, and SA, licensed, version), AltovaXML (standalone, proprietary free SA version) and Gestalt (Eiffel, standalone, open source B version).
