RE: XSL-FO: Space before and after inline areas

Yes. You have SPACE characters in your FO document before and after the inline-level element.

Remove them.

      <fo:block background-color="blue"><fo:inline background-color="#ffffff">CONTENT</fo:inline></fo:block>
